Kay Prescott is a NYC-based videographer, video editor, and audio editor. She received her BA in Dance and Media with a minor in Arts Management from Marymount Manhattan College in 2024. Her passion for digital storytelling emerged during COVID when everything went digital.

A significant project she undertook was serving as the head videographer, editor, and archivist for Marymount Manhattan College’s Dance Department. In her role as their in-house videographer, she managed two cameras for regular concert dance shows: a stable camera for wide shots and a moving camera for close-ups, while also handling the livestream simultaneously. She was the main point of contact for all matters related to department archives and video footage. She took on the responsibility of editing footage, distributing edited footage to choreographers and students(upholding proper copyright laws), implementing file naming systems, building an archival base, and managing footage across multiple hard drives and cloud based asset systems. During her three years working this position, she filmed over 20 concert dance shows and edited over 100 choreographic pieces. Notable works of hers have been featured in Dance Spirit Magazine and Dance Magazine.

Her role with Marymount’s archives led her to Urban Bush Women as a Multimedia Archive Intern. Here, she focused on capturing content and creating content with their archives. This experience deepened her knowledge of archiving and sparked a passion for preservation.

Kay’s work has brought her into some of New York’s most respected dance institutions, where she has filmed at spaces including Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Academy East, Urban Bush Women, American Youth Dance Theater, and Marie-Christine Giordano Dance. Since graduating, she has assisted Tobin Del Cuore in filming interviews with the José Limón Dance Company, worked as a Projections Assistant to Burke Brown for David Virelles’ original composition at Carnegie Hall, and earned an IMDb credit for her work on the short film The Heart of the Game by Alexandra Maxwell. She also serves as the audio editor for the podcast If You Care To Listen, hosted by Hailey Cooke and Sophia Aste, editing weekly episodes.

Kay is driven by a mission to uplift and support arts organizations in her community, giving back to the field that has shaped her life. She believes that in today’s increasingly digital world, preservation and marketing through digital platforms are essential to sustaining dance, amplifying its impact, and ensuring its legacy for future generations.
